About

Refining Faith. Steeling Character. Finishing Strong.

Mission Statement

To encourage, equip, and challenge mature men as they navigate life’s second half with courage and conviction. Through practical biblical reflection, we help men stand firm through trial, pursue deep spiritual refinement, and leave an enduring legacy of faith by example for the generations following them.

To ensure we are useable, the Lord will refine us as silver (Zechariah 13:9). Refine (Strong’s H6884) means “to melt; to refine, test, or purify metal; any refining, either literal or figurative; to prove, smelt, examine; to try by fire. This verb, refers to that melting process whereby impurities are removed from precious metals, such as gold or silver.”

Core Values & Statement of Conviction

Scriptural Integrity

Grounded firmly in the truth and authority of God’s Word as the ultimate standard for character, conduct, and daily life.

Tested Faith

Embracing the trials, tests, and transitions of mature adulthood at God’s forge: refining our faith, stripping away distractions, and building spiritual endurance.

Repentance & Renewal

Pursuing personal holiness, self-examination, and an unshakeable commitment to walking uprightly before God and family.

Legacy & Stewardship

Recognising that our later years are not for stepping back, but for stepping up: mentoring younger men, leading with humble strength, and finishing our course well.

About the Author

David W. Ball has worn many hats over the years, but they all seem to fit under one calling: helping people know God better and live for Him. He has served as a missionary in China, as a teacher and public speaker, and is the author of the Christian nonfiction book How to Overcome Rejection, amongst others.

Back home in Cape Town, South Africa, his love for people and God’s Word finds practical expression in his local church, where he teaches the Bible and disciples others. He also facilitates Paradigm Shift, a faith-based program that equips people from poorer communities with basic business skills while discipling them in what the Bible teaches about money, work, and integrity.
